The radiator air vent valve with plastic handwheel and 1/8 threaded connection is a manual device designed to release trapped air from radiators and heating elements in heating systems. The presence of air inside the circuit can hinder the circulation of hot water, reducing thermal efficiency and causing noise or cold spots in the radiator.
This valve typically consists of a chrome-plated brass body that ensures corrosion resistance and durability, and a plastic or white resin control handwheel that allows ergonomic and safe operation during venting. The thread is manufactured according to the 1/8 male standard (G 1/8), compatible with the vent connections provided on the radiator headers.
The mechanism is simple: by slowly unscrewing the handwheel, the excess air is released until water starts flowing out, indicating that the entire circuit has been cleared of air bubbles. This type of valve is mainly used during system filling or routine maintenance and supports pressures up to approximately 10 bar and operating temperatures typical of domestic systems up to around 90100 °C.
